fun.'s "We Are Young" Erupts Onto Billboard's Digital Songs Chart With Nearly 50,000 Tracks Sold In One Week

It's been an exciting week for fun. Having already received widespread acclaim for their new single "We Are Young (Feat. Janelle Monáe)," the track burst onto Billboard's Digital Songs Chart this week at #25 with nearly 50,000 tracks sold, bringing their total track sales to nearly 70,000. The breakthrough single is the first off the band's forthcoming sophomore album Some Nights (Fueled By Ramen), which hits stores and digital retailers on February 21, 2012. Additionally, sales of the band's debut album, 2009's Aim & Ignite (Nettwerk) nearly quadrupled this week with over 1,500 copies sold.

The sales numbers come off of a big week of national attention for the band. The December 6th episode of Fox's smash series Glee saw the cast perform their rendition of "We Are Young," followed by the band's own performance of the single on the December 8th installment of Last Call With Carson Daly. These two major hits only added fuel to the rapidly growing fire surrounding radio airplay. "We Are Young" is receiving enormous amounts of early airplay in major markets such as Philadelphia (WRFF), Los Angeles (98.7) and most recently Seattle (KNDD), with the single already reaching #25 on the Alternative Radio Chart this week.

With Some Nights, fun. decided to raise the stakes by teaming with noted producer Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Drake). The band and Bhasker have worked to evolve the idiosyncratic fun. sound by marrying their robust melodies with elements of hip-hop.

The band recently announced a major North American tour in support of Some Nights that launches February 29th in South Burlington, Vermont's Higher Ground. See below for full list of dates and stay tuned for more exciting news from fun.

fun. Set To Release New Album 'Some Nights' On February 21, 2012!

fun. has announced the upcoming release of their eagerly awaited album:  SOME NIGHTS arrives in stores and at all digital retailers on February 21st, 2012.

Having earned widespread acclaim with their 2009 debut album, Aim and Ignite, fun. decided to raise the stakes with this album, their first on Fueled By Ramen, by teaming with noted producer Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Drake). A behind-the-scenes look at the making of  SOME NIGHTS is streaming now at Complex.com HERE

The first single from SOME NIGHTS, “We Are Young (Feat. Janelle Monáe),” is available now via all digital retailers. The single has already generated quite a buzz, hitting the top 3 on The Hype Machine music blog aggregator in its first week of release, not to mention the top 5 on iTunes’ “Top Alternative Songs” sales ranking. What’s more, “We Are Young” has received major airplay from KCRW’s influential Morning Becomes Eclectic, while USA Today applauded the “baroque indie-popsters” for “(making) a counterintuitive play for the big time, slowing down for the massive sing-along chorus.”

The band will launch a preorder for a limited edition 7” vinyl version of the single on November 28 through the Fueled By Ramen webstore, http://store.fueledbyramen.com/, which will also unveil the song “One Foot” from SOME NIGHTS as the b-side.

A companion video clip for “We Are Young” is currently in pre-production. A video of fun. performing an acoustic version of the song with Janelle Monáe is up on the band’s site, www.ournameisfun.com (and featured above).

Nettwerk Management: Summer Recap 2011

Nettwerk Music Group is happy to share some exciting updates from its Management arm. Over the past few months, Nettwerk's Management Roster has expanded with multiple new signings: Shiny Toy Guns, Avalanche City, Hey Ocean, Gareth Dunlop, Joshua Hyslop, Radical Face, Liam Titcomb and Lucie Silvas. Read below for more information on each artist.

“For 26 years, Nettwerk has fostered and supported great new talent. I’m incredibly proud of these new additions to the roster and excited to present them to the world wide stage,” says Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride. “The coming year also brings anticipated new albums from some of our established artists like fun. and Katherine Jenkins. Our goal has always been to be the best, not biggest, at what we do.”

In addition to these new signings, Nettwerk Management has seen great successes with a couple of its established clients. Roots rock band Dispatch, featuring vocalist Chad Stokes (also of Nettwerk-managed and recording artist State Radio), returned to the road for a national tour after a 10-year hiatus. In spite of limited national media attention, Dispatch drew nearly 150,000 fans from all over the world to see this limited run of 13 dates. The tour closed with three consecutive nights at Boston's famed TD Garden, which was a fitting exclamation point on a tour that saw the band sell out a 25,000 seat soccer stadium just outside of New York City and a three-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lemonade Mouth (Walt Disney Records), the soundtrack to the Disney Channel Original Movie by the same name featuring Nettwerk-managed artist Bridgit Mendler, peaked at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release in April and has gone on to sell nearly 325,000 units.
