Meaghan Smith Named Artist Of The Year At 40th Anniversary Juno Awards!

Nettwerk congratulates management client Meaghan Smith on her big win over the weekend. The up-and-coming artist was shocked when she was called to the podium to accept the 2011 Juno Award as New Artist Of The Year. The award is in recognition of Smith's critically acclaimed major label debut The Cricket's Orchestra (Warner Music Canada /Sire Records). The announcement came during the 40th Anniversary Juno Awards broadcast live nationally from Toronto's Air Canada Centre on Sunday, March 27, 2011.

"A classy debut from a huge new talent" - *** ½ Globe & Mail

"Her songs are wry and retro, with wordplay harking back to Tin Pan Alley's heyday." - New York Times

Meaghan Smith has professed a particular fondness for the music of the early 20th century and her music is a unique spin on those sounds and melodies in which she finds her inspiration. But lest you think that the album is throwback to a forgone era, Meaghan's album features turntable flourishes from DJ Kid Koala alongside lush strings and mellotrons.
