Brooklyn's Matt and Kim were awarded MTV’s Breakthrough Video award for their “Lessons Learned” music video by the moon man himself, Buzz Aldrin, at last nights 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The band beat out a slew of well-known nominees in the category including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bat For Lashes, Cold War Kids, Passion Pit, Death Cab for Cutie, Gnarls Barkley and Chairlift among others. The award-winning video for “Lesson’s Learned” (featured above), which is off the bands current release Grand (FADER Label in US; Nettwerk Records in UK and Europe) features the duo taking a stroll through Times Square while disrobing in the middle of February.
“After all the convincing it took me to get Kim to strip in Times Square she's finally gonna trust me!,” says Matt Johnson of Matt and Kim. “Every time she questions one of my dumb ideas I'll say ‘But Kim, remember that time we won the VMA!’”

"Easy Come Easy Go" is the first single from New Wild Everywhere and easily the most upbeat and up-tempo track to ever come from Toronto indie folk/rock darlings Great Lake Swimmers. Out April 3, New Wild Everywhere is the follow up to 2009's critically acclaimed, Juno and Polaris-prize nominated album Lost Channels. Their fifth album in just under a decade, this new collection of 12 tracks reveals a depth and maturity previously only hinted at by lead singer and songwriter Tony Dekker.
