Dutch-born musician, remixer and producer Junkie XL (aka Tom Holkenborg) works with Oscar-winning film composer, Hans Zimmer, on the latest Batman film, Dark Knight Rises. Included on the soundtrack is a Junkie XL remix of musical cue, “Bombers Over Ibiza.” To listen to the remix, see above.
This is not the first time the two have worked together. Since 2010, Zimmer has enlisted the talents of Holkenborg on several films – Inception, Madagascar 3, Megamind – as well as other musical projects, including this year’s remix of the The Academy Awards® theme song.
Other composers who have worked with Zimmer – John Powell (Rio, the Bourne series, Mr.. & Mrs. Smith) and Harry Gregson-Williams (Shrek) - later made the ultimate step towards their own big Hollywood scores.
Speaking on the collalboration, Holkenborg says, "signing up for one of the biggest Hollywood film series is a dream of mine. Hans began with Rain Man in the '80s and has composed music for a hundred-plus films. For me, he is not only a friend and colleague, but a living legend and a true mentor. It is both an education and inspiration to work with Hans, day in and day out."
