Radical Face Joins Nettwerk's International Label Roster; European Tour Starts Jan 23

Nettwerk-managed indie pop-folk artist Radical Face (aka Ben Cooper) -- who released his critically-acclaimed sophomore album The Family Tree: The Roots in North America in October on his own Bear Machine label -- has just inked a deal with Nettwerk's label side for the album's release in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. The Family Tree: The Roots will be out at the end of January/early February (release dates vary across each territory). Hauntingly beautiful, Radical Face’s new album glimmers with folk, pop and Ben’s wide-open vocals. His European tour kicks off January 23rd with back to back sold-out shows in London. See below for full list of dates.

After four years of honing the album concept, which depicts the life and tribulations of a family from the 1800’s, Ben recorded The Family Tree: The Roots alone in a tool shed and limited the songwriting to instruments that would have been accessible in the 1800’s. Incorporating piano, acoustic guitar, a floor tom, and voices, he only brought in additional instruments of the era during tracking when needed. From soaring tracks like “A Pound of Flesh” and “Severus and Stone,” to eerily dark pieces like “Black Eyes” and “Kin,” to warm, enlightening gems like “Always Gold” and “Mountains,” the songs flow together with mindful artistic clarity, allowing the listener to fully escape into the album as the stories unravel.

Ash Koley Release New Video For "Apple Of My Eye"; US Debut Set For 2012 Release On Nettwerk

Pop-duo Ash Koley have released a new video for their latest single, "Apple Of My Eye," from their Canadian debut album Inventions, which is set for US release in 2012 on Nettwerk. The single is also available for purchase on iTunes now HERE.

Singer Ash Koley and producer/songwriter Phil Deschambault began their musical collaboration in 2004, when the two self-proclaimed nerds from Winnipeg were introduced by a mutual acquaintance. Phil was looking for a singer who could relate to his sound, and Ash's velvety voice did just that. Together, their sound is an amalgamation of diverse influences, from Abba to the Eurythmics, and from Peter Gabriel to Radiohead. The result is a band that is a full embodiment of what they each bring to the duo - quirky charm and upbeat classic pop music.

Nettwerk Management: Summer Recap 2011

Nettwerk Music Group is happy to share some exciting updates from its Management arm. Over the past few months, Nettwerk's Management Roster has expanded with multiple new signings: Shiny Toy Guns, Avalanche City, Hey Ocean, Gareth Dunlop, Joshua Hyslop, Radical Face, Liam Titcomb and Lucie Silvas. Read below for more information on each artist.

“For 26 years, Nettwerk has fostered and supported great new talent. I’m incredibly proud of these new additions to the roster and excited to present them to the world wide stage,” says Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride. “The coming year also brings anticipated new albums from some of our established artists like fun. and Katherine Jenkins. Our goal has always been to be the best, not biggest, at what we do.”

In addition to these new signings, Nettwerk Management has seen great successes with a couple of its established clients. Roots rock band Dispatch, featuring vocalist Chad Stokes (also of Nettwerk-managed and recording artist State Radio), returned to the road for a national tour after a 10-year hiatus. In spite of limited national media attention, Dispatch drew nearly 150,000 fans from all over the world to see this limited run of 13 dates. The tour closed with three consecutive nights at Boston's famed TD Garden, which was a fitting exclamation point on a tour that saw the band sell out a 25,000 seat soccer stadium just outside of New York City and a three-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside of Denver.

On the other end of the spectrum, Lemonade Mouth (Walt Disney Records), the soundtrack to the Disney Channel Original Movie by the same name featuring Nettwerk-managed artist Bridgit Mendler, peaked at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release in April and has gone on to sell nearly 325,000 units.

Nettwerk Co-founder Mark Jowett Presents "Tweety Bird," The First Storysingle From His Upcoming Release 'Tubers'

Today, Nettwerk co-founder Mark Jowett presents "Tweety Bird (feat. Tea Petrovic)," the first "storysingle" of nine from his upcoming book Tubers, out in November.  In this new "storysingle" format, "Tweety Bird" combines an E-story with a mini-soundtrack to that story, along with remixes of the track by Dominican Republic's Pacha Massive and Toronto's Jeremy Glenn.

Listen to "Tweety Bird" here:

Mark Jowett - Tweety Bird

Travelling in the subways of New York, London and Paris over the years in his role as a partner at Nettwerk, Jowett (Cinderpop/Moev) began to construct stories around the extraordinary characters he would meet in the subways, along with music that included “found sounds” of trains and overheard conversations he would record while riding the trains.

The result is Tubers, a collection of nine stories with three taking place in each city. Each story has a musical theme and an illicit or nefarious act. Tubers will be published by Read Leaf books in early November. The book contains mesmerizing illustrations, a limited edition 7” and a coupon to download the accompanying Tubers album (Popoganda Records/Nettwerk), which features vocals by Kevan Ellis, Tea Petovic and Heather Ray, combined with bonus remixes by Pacha Massive and renowned house minimalist Kate Simko.
