UK-based Ladytron Contributes Music To Occupy This Album, A Compilation Inspired By Occupy Wall Street

Ladytron joins Crosby & Nash, Devo, Jackson Brown, Yo La Tengo, Lucinda Williams and filmmaker and activist Michael Moore to contribute music to Occupy This Album: A Compilation of Music By, For and Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the 99%, set for release Winter 2011-2012. Songs from big-names, as well as rising musicians, will provide an anthem for the protesters involved in the uprising.

As the protests gain momentum, the producers of Occupy This Album hope to provide a soundtrack to give the protesters a unified voice, as well as financial means to support the movement. All proceeds from the album will go directly to the growing Occupy Wall Street group.

Album cover art has been contributed by political cartoonist and illustrator, Robert Grossman. Check it out below.

Datarock On Fuel TV's "The Daily Habit"

Norwegian rockers Datarock appeared on Fuel TV's "The Daily Habit" this week, where they performed "True Stories" and "The Pretender" from their latest album Red.  

The band is currently on the last leg of their 6-week North American tour and are preparing to head back to Europe for a slew of dates before they travel Australia early next year. 

If you missed it, the men in red also played a special release day performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month, as well as appeared on ABC News Now "What's The Buzz" to talk about their new album, their tracksuits and of course, their childhood friendship with Jimmy Kimmel.

Less than a week until the official release of Red, Datarock grace the cover of the current issue of Big Shot Magazine, with a 6-page feature and photo spread inside. Grab a copy to check out great pictures from the downtown LA photo shoot and learn all about what they have been up to since their 2006 debut and the making of Red.

In other exciting news, the band just released a special Red vinyl today through Amazon.com and indie retailers. The Deluxe 180-gram colored vinyl includes an MP3 CD featuring tracks like "True Stories" and "The Pretender."

Datarock Announces 26-City North American Tour

In celebration of their sophomore album Red (September 1), Datarock is taking over North America with a 26-city tour that beings on Friday, August 28 in Montreal and ends on Saturday, October 3 in Seattle. 

In the midst of sell-out dates across London and Australia, the Norwegian rockers made a quick stop in the US last month and gave packed audiences in Los Angeles and San Francisco a sneak preview of what they can expect from 5-week tour…same tracksuits, more songs, bigger show. 

Datarock Share Stage With Their Heroes DEVO At SXSW

Last week in Austin, Datarock  played three shows and shared the stage with buzzed about up and coming artists like Little Boots and The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, and favorite established artists like Tricky and of course, the bands' heroes DEVO.  The boys in Red played debuted a handful of tracks from the new album, including "The Pretender," "Amarillion," and the new single "Give It Up," which will be available on iTunes April 14th.
