Starting July 21st, Family Of The Year will share the stage with Milo Greene on select dates in the US, followed by a month-long tour with Hey Ocean!. The band has already played sold-out shows in England and across Europe, including a triumphant set at France’s renowned music festival Les Vieilles Charrues, and garnered support stints with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons, Grouplove, Good Old War, Belle Brigade and more. The band is excited to hit the road to perform new songs and already-familiar tracks from last year’s St. Croix EP; which was heralded by NPR as “ebullient, full of stylistic left turns” and “intense and atmospheric” by Rolling Stone.
Enlisting producer Wally Gagel (Rolling Stones, Muse, New Order, Sebadoh, Rihanna, Eels, Folk Implosion), this is the first time that the band has gone outside their own camp while recording their music. “Having him work with us was really helpful, because you have to be pushed to edit yourself and be better, be stronger, work harder on things,” says lead vocalist/guitars, Joe Keefe. “Working with someone like that who knows exactly what we wanted it to sound like with the same exact vision, it was really kind of a no-brainer.”

Nettwerk recording artist, Family Of The Year, announce details of their much-anticipated studio album, Loma Vista. Set for release July 10, the full-length follows the critical success of last year’s St. Croix EP; heralded by NPR as “ebullient, full of stylistic left turns” and “intense and atmospheric” by Rolling Stone.
Family Of The Year—Joe (vocals, guitar), Sebastian (drums, vocals), James Buckey (guitar, vocals), and Christina Schroeter (keyboards, vocals) - completed 14 songs with producer Wally Gagel, one-half of production/songwriting team, WAX LTD and who’s credits include Rolling Stones, Muse, New Order, PJ Harvey, Sebadoh, Eels, Rihanna and more. A few tracks were set aside for St Croix, the remaining make up Loma Vista. This is the first time that the band has worked with a producer and gone outside their own camp to release their music.
To celebrate the forthcoming release, FOTY reveals “Diversity” and partnered with Nylon Magazine to share a 4-minute tour clip pieced together from their recent North American jaunt with Good Old War and Belle Brigade. A band with remarkable performance presence, the video aptly captures life on the road with a band that started out “cohabitating” in a run-down house and relying on each other for inspiration and support.
Recently signed to Nettwerk Records, Family Of The Year shares with fans the lyric video for “Stairs” a track from their forthcoming studio debut, Diversity (set for Summer 2012).
The band has already played sold-out shows in England and across Europe, including a triumphant set at France’s largest music festival Les Vieilles Charrues, and garnered support stints with Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons, Grouplove, and Milo Greene. Early supporters have included NPR, Guardian UK, NME, CMJ and the BBC to name a few.
Currently, the band is on the road with Belle Brigade and Good Old War. For a complete list of dates, see below.

“If you’re familiar with FOTY, you already know (and probably love) their beach sound. If not, [St. Croix EP] is a fantastic introduction.” – Wild Honey Pie

Nettwerk Records is pleased to announce the signing of LA-based Family Of The Year. Combining soft harmonies, comforting guitar chords and toe tapping beats, the irresistibly catchy St. Croix EP is due March 6th via Nettwerk Records.
To parallel the playfulness of the title track, the band enlisted Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Jessica Sanders to “create a video that didn’t have to be taken too seriously,” says drummer Sebastian Keefe. Watch it above.
