Angus Stone Co-Produces Short Film For "Monsters" From 'Broken Brights' (Out Now)

Partnering with Huffington Post, Angus Stone reveals a brand new short film for '”Monsters,” from his solo release, Broken Brights (out now via Nettwerk Records). Stone steps in front and behind the camera to create the exceptional follow-up to two previous self-directed videos – “Broken Brights” and “Wooden Chair.”

Produced in collaboration with Evil Twin partners Taylor Steele and Todd DiCiurcio, the short captures the mysticism and stunning landscapes of Australia’s lush forests. Trekking through an imaginary wooded universe, Stone crosses path with ominous and supernatural characters – including a deadly band of “Lord Of The Flies”-like children and human hybrid goddesses.

'The Blind Side's' Quinton Aaron And Julia Stone Fall In Love In "Justine"

Julia Stone has unveiled a new video for the track “Justine” from her acclaimed solo album, By The Horns. The video, which premiered on HitFix.com (here: http://bit.ly/RaBKWe), co-stars actor Quinton Aaron of the Oscar-nominated film The Blind Side as Julia’s love interest.

Director Jessie Hill told HitFix: "I wanted give the viewer an opportunity to experience something different to the ‘normal’ images of lovers in video clips. I set out to make a video that depicted a heartfelt romance in a distant time...a love story in its purist state. My casting agent suggested Quinton, and I immediately contacted him to have a coffee. The contrast of Julia being so tiny and Quinton being a larger character was something I wanted to explore visually."

By The Horns was produced by Thomas Bartlett and Patrick Dillett, whose combined work includes credits on records by Antony & The Johnsons, David Byrne, The National and Mary J Blige. Julia has previously released two albums as one-half of the award-winning Aussie sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone (Down The Way; A Book Like This), as well one previous solo full-length (Julia Stone in The Memory Machine).

Angus Stone Releases Solo Album, 'Broken Brights'; Out July 17

“Recording this album has been a very different experience for me. It’s an opportunity to be more loose and have a bit more fun. Recording with Julia is cool but we both have our hands on the wheel. This is an opportunity to grab the wheel and do some burn-outs,” says Stone.

Following the recent release of lead single, “Bird On The Buffalo,” Angus Stone announces full details of his upcoming solo album Broken Brights - out July 17 via Nettwerk Records.

Broken Brights marks a departure for Stone, and not just from recording with his long-term musical co-conspirator and sister, Julia. The album, produced by Angus, is also proof that he can deftly shift between genres without compromising his signature sound.

While title track “Broken Brights” is a return-to-form for Stone — it’s a nostalgic, dreamy tribute to our youth — “Bird On the Buffalo” is a livelier composition, incorporating distorted guitar riffs, which also make an appearance in the notably rockier “It Was Blue.” That string-laden track in particular is proof that his compositional skills transcend the preconceptions you might have about his musical style.
