Lily Kershaw Premieres Debut Video; Residency At Hotel Cafe and Dates With Radical Face Announced
“Lily Kershaw has a knack for taking the simplest of ideas and making them seem ascendant." – Buzzbands.la
LA-based singer/songwriter Lily Kershaw has unveiled the official video for lead single “As It Seems” from her forthcoming debut album, Midnight In The Garden. Directed by Ben Fee (The Lumineers, Aesop Rock), the video recently premiered on influential LA music blog Buzzbands.la.
About the video, Fee says, “ When I first heard ‘As It Seems,’ I heard a song that transcended time and genres. It evoked some sort of journey in my mind…one of melancholy, hope, regret, loss and love. I didn’t feel like this story had a beginning or an end, and that is exactly where the video came from. A story that could be somebody looking into their own life, or others’ lives at different stages.”
With the release of Midnight In The Garden approaching (September 24), Lily is in the midst of an LA residency at Hotel Café with two more shows scheduled for Monday, September 16 and Monday, September 30. In October, she’ll join fellow Nettwerk label artist Radical Face on the west coast run of his headline tour, including stops in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and a sold-out show in LA at the Masonic Lodge (Hollywood Forever Cemetery) on Thursday, October 24.
Produced by John Fields, Midnight In The Garden explores emotional landscapes, with heart clutching melodies that say what most people struggle to say themselves. The album takes root in the titans of folk music…those classic songsmiths who weave tapestries of sound with fingerpicking and tales of often unspoken truths. In song, Kershaw is an old soul, but in person, she's a kinetic 22 year-old. She's ebullient and lively, quick with a joke and an infectious smile. Raised adjacent to the Hollywood machine, Kershaw offers an antidote to the long-mythologized Los Angeles glitz; she's authentic, and honest, self-effacing and, above all, she is herself.
