Nettwerk Records New Signings:
Joshua Hyslop is a Vancouver-based folk musician with a modern edge, pulling inspiration from artists like Ryan Adams, Iron and Wine and Sufjan Stevens. He finds song-writing inspiration from the people and relationships that surround him, writing about his experiences candidly to expose his own vulnerabilities, doubts, and conflicts. Hyslop has garnered much attention around his live shows, where he captivates audiences with his charming and genuine performances. He recently released his debut EP titled Cold Wind EP, which has already sold nearly 1,000 copies. Quickly becoming a favorite of the CBC, Hyslop stopped by their studios last month for a live performance on CBC Radio 2’s “The Drive.” Watch him perform the track “Cold Wind” here: http://bit.ly/tJBa41
This Waterloo-ON sibling trio recently released their debut album, Fuh Yeah. Made up of two brothers and a sister, the gifted young family of Karl Snyder (drums), Cliff (synth + guitar) and younger sister Edna (piano + vocal) are relatively new on the scene, but already turning heads with their unique form of synth-pop and wildly energetic performances alongside Dragonette, Girltalk, Thunderheist, Health and Rich Aucoin. Earlier this year, the band’s second single “Song” was handpicked by Ford Canada as the soundtrack to their 2011 TV commercial campaign. In 2006, he was nominated for the Canadian Radio Music Awards for Best New Group or Solo Artist (Hot AC) for his debut album on Columbia with Grammy-winning producer Bill Bottrell (Sheryl Crow, Michael Jackson). His sophomore album, Can’t Let Go, was recorded in Nashville with Jay Joyce (Patti Griffin, Derek Trucks) and released on Double Dorje Records, his own independent label. Liam has lived between Nashville and the UK over the past year, and is working on his third album. Listen to Liam’s rendition of the holiday classic “Silver Bells” here: http://bit.ly/stw8G6
