Chad "Chadwick" Stokes (Dispatch & State Radio) To Release Solo Project - 'Simmerkane II,' Out June 28th

Chad Stokes of Dispatch & State Radio prepares to debut his first solo outing under the moniker Chadwick Stokes. The solo project, titled Simmerkane II, will be in stores June 28th on Ruff Shod/Nettwerk Records. Available the same day is a two-disc deluxe version that features three tracks recorded with Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars, a band formed by Sierra Leone refugees displaced to Guinea during the Sierra Leone Civil War.

Simmerkane II is inspired by Stoke’s train jumping adventures across the US, a metaphoric diary of the sights and sounds discovered on his travels. Produced by John Dragonetti (The Submarines), Simmerkane II features collaborations with friends and heroes – Carly Simon, Blake Hazard (The Submarines), Matt Embree (RX Bandits), The White Buffalo (aka Jake Smith) and aforementioned Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars.

Raised in Massachusetts, Stokes grew up as a pacifist through time spent at The Peace Abbey and volunteering in Zimbabwe. For many summers, he worked at Camp Jabberwocky, a camp on Martha’s Vineyard for adults with disabilities, which served as the launching pad for How’s Your News?. In 2008, the Boston Music Awards honored Stokes as Humanitarian of the Year for creating the Elias Fund, the Dispatch Foundation, and Calling All Crows. A committed activist, Stokes is passionate about inspiring the live music community to invest their time and energy toward public service and humanitarian causes. Along with numerous charity endeavors, Stokes and tour manager/partner, Sybil Gallagher, started independent record label, Ruff Shod. The label includes State Radio as well as recent additions, The White Buffalo and indie acoustic quintet, Elephant Revival.

Stokes remains actively involved in both State Radio and Dispatch, and has scanned a combined total of 675,000+ records. Coming off a two-month tour with State Radio, Stokes will return to the road in June with Dispatch before embarking on a solo tour in support of Simmerkane II. Stay tuned for tour dates.
