Electronic Music Pioneer DJ Dan Set To Release Debut Artist Album 'Future Retro' On Sept 14

DJ Dan releases his long awaited debut artist album Future Retro on September 14th. DJ Dan first stepped behind the decks in 1989, and 20 years later he’s still one of the most prolific and successful DJs performing in front of thousands. The aptly titled album, Future Retro is a 2-part conceptual project that is both a retrospective reminder of dance music’s early days and a suggestion of its future. To be released August 24, the next single, “Fascinated,” is a much-admired tune reworked with a twist that nods graciously to the sounds of tomorrow. DJ Dan preserves the track’s original vocals and big drops with new bass-hooks and four-to-the-floor sensibilities for good measure. It adds up to the perfect good-time anthem and will be a summer hit once more - reborn and reworked for the latest generation of beat-hungry obsessives.

DJ Dan - Fascinated (Radio Mix) by nettwerkmusicgroup

An appropriate perspective for this musical luminary, Future Retro is a culmination of all things great on the dance floor, fusing classic dance tracks with his unique blend of funky driving Electro House that will no doubt take club-goers on a musical journey that will span the past, present, and the future.

Dan will release his latest single “Fascinated,” along with seven remixes, on August 24. The retro track was originally released in 1987 from the Latin freestyle dance-pop group Company B, and hit #1 on the Dance chart in the U.S. Says Dan, “’Fascinated’ is regarded as a dance music classic. I used to include this track on my early mixtapes that I would mix with house and hip house. At the time, it was as popular as ‘Blue Monday’ by New Order and ‘You Spin Me Around’ by Dead or Alive.”

All through DJ Dan’s epic journey from the realms of rave culture to the present day, he has amassed an extensive list of supporters. A stalwart of the West Coast House sound, DJ Dan began his career in Seattle in 1989. After a move to Los Angeles where he became a fixture among the rave culture of the early ‘90s, he went on to break new ground as a founding member of the influential collective Funky Tekno Tribe. In recent years, as remixer extraordinaire (Lady Gaga, P. Diddy, Black Eyed Peas), label owner, and artist, DJ Dan continues to impart his influential voice of authenticity, knowledge, and pure love for all things Dance music.

Check out DJ Dan & Uberzone’s “Operator” (f/t Blake Lewis) HERE. Originally a number one hit on the Billboard R&B chart in 1985, Midnight Star’s funk-fuelled electro smash had a big influence on Dan in his early years, prompting the honoree retrospective reworking.
