David Byrne Invites Katzenjammer To Play Bonnaroo; First Single "A Bar In Amsterdam" Out Now

Norwegian all-female alt-folk band Katzenjammer have just released their first single, "A Bar In Amsterdam," from their forthcoming album on iTunes (download here).  The band, who have become known for their raucous live shows, grabbed the attention of festival goers at this year's SXSW and have since been added to some of the summer's biggest festivals, including Bonnaroo.

David Byrne has assembed a number of performers, like Santigold and the Dirty Projectors, for the first artist-curated stage at Bonnaroo, and invited Katzenjammer to be part of the line-up -- which also includes Byrne performing the "Songs of David Byrn and Brian Eno" -- on Friday, June 12.

The ladies of Katzenjammer will also make a special stop in New York City on June 16 at the Mercury Lounge.

Katzenjammer’s musical underground cult is carried forward by the sound of instruments such as accordion, mandolin, guitar, piano, balalaika bass, glockenspiel, trumpet, kazoo, melodica, drums and banjo to just name some (all self taught!). They play these instruments with fire in their bellies, fever in their fingers and their hearts in their throats. The vocals of this band are the broad paint strokes on the colourful night sky where you dance your wildest dance in your finest clothes. Katzenjammer kick the clichés so hard in the stomach that they bend over, turn inside out and become new vessels for new people with old preferences.
