James Yuill Reveals New Video For "Over The Hills"; "Over The Hills EP" Out June 16; N. American Tour Wraps In NYC This Week
Just a week since the release of his debut album Turning Down Water For Air, James Yuill revealed a brand new video for the track "Over The Hills" exclusively with Brooklyn Vegan yesterday. The video was directed by Zack Keller and Ed Skudder and shot last month when Yuill was in Los Angeles for “RadioActive: A Dance Party For KCRW." The British singer/songwriter will release a four-track "Over The Hills EP" digitally on June 16, which includes a remix from Lisa Milberg of the Concretes.
Yuill has spent the last few weeks on the road opening for various acts like M83, School of Seven Bells and Black Moth Super Rainbow. During the tour, he appeared on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic and influential Seattle radio station KEXP; he was also featured as the download of the day on Philadelphia's XPN and was featured as artist of the day on NPR's "Second Stage." Yuill will appear with Jeffrey Lewis and the Junkyard tonight (June 3) at Schuba's in Chicago, and will play his last two shows of the tour in New York this Thursday, June 4 with Viva Voce and Cut Off Your Hands at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Friday, June 5 with Field recordings and True Widow at the weekly Ruff Club party at the Annex.
Turning Down Water For Air is a brilliant fusion of Yuill’s many influences, from the emotional songwriting of artists like Nick Drake, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens to the dynamic beats of Justice, Chemical Brothers and Aphex Twins. With his debut album, Yuill has managed to create a sound of his very own...and the perfect soundtrack to the summer.
