Nettwerk Music Group is thrilled to announce the signing of Madi Diaz to its label roster. Diaz, who debuted new material during her month-long residency at LA’s Bootleg Theatre last summer, is putting the final touches on her upcoming full-length album, due out this summer. She’ll give industry and music lovers alike a taste of what’s to come when she heads to Austin next month for SXSW (showcase details TBA).

Madi’s captivating, high-energy songs manage to conjure all the apprehensions of youth and heartbreak into a guileless, giddy sort of strength. Her new music takes on grungy, pulsating bass lines that open up to shimmering, expansive chords, punchy drumbeats, and unfettered vocal swagger.

William Fitzsimmons' fifth studio album is out now. Lions was produced by Chris Walla (guitarist for Death Cab For Cutie with previous production credits with Tegan and Sara, The Decemberists and The Postal Service, among others) at Hall of Justice in Seattle. On this record, Fitzsimmons' explores his personal changes over the years since 2011's release, Gold In The Shadow.

Leading up to the release of Lions, Fitzsimmons debuted a few tracks from the record. Late in 2013 Fitzsimmons gave listeners the first taste of the record with the premiere of an acoustic version of his track "Centralia" on Paste. He released the first single from the album, "Fortune," in January with a track premiere on American Songwriter and video premiere on The AV Club. Bringing him right up to the release date Fitzsimmons also debuted two other acoustic versions of tracks from the record with "Sister" on The Wall Street Journal and "Took" on Rolling Stone.

Nettwerk Music Group Acquires Bumstead Records

Nettwerk Music Group (Nettwerk) and Bumstead Productions (Bumstead) today announced a definitive agreement under which Nettwerk has acquired the recording assets and label operations of Bumstead.

Bumstead is one of a few Canadian independent music businesses founded over 30 years ago with a strong pedigree of developing successful Canadian artists. Under the deal, Nettwerk is acquiring the copyrights to such legacy Canadian recording artists as k.d. lang, Glen Stace, Colin James and John Ford, as well as recent releases from The Trews, Tim Chaisson, Two Hours Traffic, Yukon Blonde and Poor Young Things.

Bumstead founder Larry Wanagas will retain the name Bumstead and continue to independently run the publishing and artist management business of Bumstead under the Bumstead banner.

LA-based sextet Run River North will celebrate the February 25th release of their self-titled debut album with a sold-out headline show at LA’s iconic Troubadour on Monday, March 3rd. UK pop girl group Little Mix’s sophomore album Salute (Syco/Columbia) is proving to be a cross-over with its #1 debut on the US iTunes chart. Acclaimed Nettwerk One writer Shaznay Lewis contributed three tracks to Salute: “These Four Walls,” “Stand Down,” and “About A Boy.”

Lewis first worked with Little Mix on their 2012 debut DNA, which holds the record for highest-charting debut by a UK girl group in America at #4 on the Billboard Top 200. The track Lewis penned, “How Ya Doin” feat. Missy Elliot, became Little Mix’s fifth consecutive top 20 hit in the UK.

Passenger’s “Let Her Go” Hits #1 At Hot AC Radio; Today Show Set For February 24th

Passenger’s smash single “Let Her Go” grabs the #1 chart position at Hot AC radio this week and climbs back to its peak position on the Billboard Hot 100 at #6. This follows a major week for Mike Rosenberg (aka Passenger), who saw “Let Her Go” become the new soundtrack to Budweiser’s 2014 television ad, titled “Puppy Love,” which aired during the big game last Sunday and today boasts more than 43 Million YouTube views. The official video for “Let Her Go” is also just shy of 200 Million YouTube views.

Royal Canoe Nominated For Juno Award; Spring US Tour With Bombay Bicycle Club

 

Winnipeg, Manitoba’s six-piece ensemble, Royal Canoe, has been nominated for a Juno Award in the Alternative Album Of The Year category for their debut full-length album, Today We Are Believers. The record was released to rave reviews in the U.S., Canada and UK on September 3, 2013 via Roll Call Records. Competing against Royal Canoe for Alternative Album Of The Year is The Arcade Fire, Rah Rah, The Darcys and Yamantaka//Sonic Titan. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony in Winnipeg, MB on March 30, 2014.

The Pack A.D. Sees Career Best With 'Do Not Engage' Canadian Chart Debut

Vancouver's The Pack A.D. saw a career best this week with their latest album, Do Not Engage, entering the Top 200 at #87, hitting #16 on the Alternative Albums chart and #54 on the Digital Albums chart. Meanwhile, current single “Big Shot” is #51 on the Mediabase Canada Alternative Rock Spins Chart. In the U.S., the album debuted on the Top New Artist Albums chart at #64 and the Top Alternative New Artist Album chart at #25.

Do Not Engage was produced by Jim Diamond (White Stripes, The Mooney Suzuki, Dirtbombs) and recorded in a former Motor City chicken-processing plant.  To celebrate the release, The Pack has hit the road on an extensive North American tour that will see them visit both Canadian coasts and almost everywhere in between. Ghost Beach Share New Track And Announce National Tour With RAC

Brooklyn-based duo Ghost Beach will release their debut album Blonde, on March 4. Perfecting their unique blend of retro and futuristic soaring synth pop, the duo previously shared the party-starting album single, “Miracle”. Now fans are treated to “Every Time We Touch” - a funk-infused blazer, strapped with an infectious bass line and classic house beats. Check out “Every Time We Touch” below.
