Krishna Das Yoga Radio To Launch March 1 On SiriusXM

SiriusXM announced yesterday that Yoga's "Rock Star" Krishna Das will have has his own radio channel devoted to the yoga of chant with sacred and spiritual music on SiriusXM channel 360.

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) announced today that best-selling American chant artist of all time Krishna Das will have his own SiriusXM channel.

Krishna Das Yoga Radio, scheduled to launch on Thursday, March 1, will feature music from eastern and western spiritual traditions and a diverse range of legendary and present-day artists, including: Krishna Das, Ali Akbar Khan, Choying Drolma, Deva Premal, Jai Uttal, Lama Gyurme, Pandit Jasraj, Shantala, Sultan Khan and Wah! and many more.

The channel will launch with an exclusive special showcasing the music from Live Ananda, Krishna Das' new album featuring his classic chants recorded live. Throughout the day on Thursday, March 1, beginning at 10:00 am ET, SiriusXM listeners will hear Krishna Das tell stories and offer a first-hand illustration for the chants on the album.

Nütone Music Announces Summer Releases From Jai Uttal And More On July 26

Krishna Das Announces New Album and Tour Dates!

Called the “Chant Master of American Yoga” by the New York Times, Krishna Das will release Heart As Wide As The World, his first studio album in ten years, March 2, 2010. The album is a collaboration with David Nichtern (“Midnight at the Oasis”) who produced and played guitar. It features musicians like Jerry Marotta (Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel) on drums, percussion and world musicians Steve Gorn on bansuri flute and Benjy Wertheimer on esraj, amongst an array of other instruments.

Krishna Das will also be touring in spring 2010 with Deva Premal & Miten, dubbed “The Johnny and June Carter Cash of chant” by Yoga Journal . Together they are creating an extraordinary series of concerts across the US, highlighting the newfound popularity of kirtan and mantra chanting.
