Ladytron

Ladytron joins Crosby & Nash, Devo, Jackson Brown, Yo La Tengo, Lucinda Williams and filmmaker and activist Michael Moore to contribute music to Occupy This Album: A Compilation of Music By, For and Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the 99%, set for release Winter 2011-2012. Songs from big-names, as well as rising musicians, will provide an anthem for the protesters involved in the uprising.

As the protests gain momentum, the producers of Occupy This Album hope to provide a soundtrack to give the protesters a unified voice, as well as financial means to support the movement. All proceeds from the album will go directly to the growing Occupy Wall Street group.

Ladytron & MTV IGGY filmed a private concert at Brooklyn's Victorian Grand Prospect Hall during the band's recent North American tour. Ladytron has released a new music video for current single, “Mirage,” from the critically successful, Gravity The Seducer, out now. Co-directed by Michael Sherrington & Ladytron’s Daniel Hunt, the music video was filmed at the remote Standing Stones Of Callanish on the Isle Of Lewis.

In step with the overall cinematic vision of Gravity The Seducer, both directors were explicit in the intended aesthetic of the video and intentionally selected the megalithic monuments. Presumably older than Stonehenge, the monoliths’ enigmatic, magical quality and its surrounding landscape is the perfect visual accompaniment to “Mirage.”

Having wrapped up their North American tour, Ladytron announces several forthcoming shows in Brazil and Chile. Full dates below, with more to announce in the coming weeks.

Only a month until the release of their highly anticipated fifth studio album Gravity The Seducer (September 13 in the US; September 12 in the UK), Nettwerk recording artist Ladytron reveals a fourth album track entitled “Mirage.”

The UK-based quartet (Daniel Hunt, Reuben Wu, Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo) created Gravity The Seducer to operate like a book, with tracks acting as chapters that hold the album together. As a teaser, Aroyo says, “scenes that are set up in ‘Mirage’ return and reflect in a later track, ‘Melting Ice.’”

Ladytron shared the music video for lead single, “White Elephant.” Directed by Michele Civetta, the video was filmed in Normandy, France and can be watched below:

Ladytron are set to embark on a major North American fall tour in support of Gravity The Seducer. Joining them throughout the tour is SONOIO, a solo project of Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails). The month-long tour kicks off in Phoenix, AZ on September 22nd and wraps up in Miami, FL on October 15th. See dates below.
