Griffin House Releases New Song And Video, "Head For The Hills," Inspired By Recent Events in Nashville and The Gulf Coast

After having just released his third full-length album The Learner last week, Griffin House has released a brand new song inspired by the recent events in Nashville and the Gulf of Mexico called "Head For The Hills."

A note from Griffin House on "Head For The Hills":
“I sat in my bedroom and wrote “Head For The Hills” while the rain pounded Nashville and caused the city to flood. When I saw the destruction in the aftermath and thought about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, my mind wanted to make sense of all the natural and man made disaster that seems to be occurring at an unusual pace, and my heart wanted to sing relief into the hearts of the people who have suffered loss from these disasters. I headed to Louisiana to capture some images of the land and the people in the midst of their stories."

"Head For The Hills" is available for purchase on iTunes HERE, and The Learner is in-stores now on iTunes and Amazon

Griffin House Participates In Esquire Songwriting Challenge; Original Song Available For Download Today Only

|

For its April issue (on newsstands now), Esquire magazine asked five of its favorite musicians— Dierks Bentley, Charlie Mars, Bob Schneider, Ben Kweller and Nettwerk's Griffin House—to come to the Shack-Up Inn in Clarksdale, Mississippi and participate in a two-day fashion shoot with world-famous photographer Danny Clinch. To make things interesting, Esquire also asked each of the musicians to take the Esquire Songwriting Challenge: write, perform, and record an original song with lyrics that include the phrase “Somewhere in Mississippi.” For some of the musicians, this became the title of their song and they used it time and again; for others, they used the phrase once before heading in another direction. The results are five songs as unique and entertaining as the men who created them.

Today, Esquire is making Griffin House's original song, "The Mississippi Hippie," available as a free download at esquire.com/miss.   After that, the song will no longer be available on Esquire.com (or anywhere else), so don’t miss your opportunity to grab it now.  For more information, visit esquire.com/miss, or pick up the April issue of Esquire.

Griffin House's new album, The Learner, is out June 22 on Evening Records.

Griffin House Returns With 'The Learner' June 22; House Featured In Current Issue Of Esquire

“He’s emerged as a young songwriter’s songwriter on the back of an arsenal of pitches that boasts both a wicked curveball and changeup…”— Esquire

The Learner, the new album from renowned singer-songwriter Griffin House, will be released June 22 on Evening Records. This is the fifth full-length recording from the Nettwerk-managed artist, who has been widely heralded by critics and fans alike. Of the Ohio-native, music journalist Bill Flanagan (MTV/VH1) raves, “I bought House’s CD after a show in New York City and, this never happens, I took it home and must have listened to it 20 times that weekend. I was knocked out.”

2010 has already proven a breakout year for House, who is currently featured in an 11-page spread in the April issue of Esquire magazine. For the piece, Esquire invited five of their favorite musicians—Dierks Bentley, Charlie Mars, Bob Schneider, Ben Kweller and Griffin House—to take part in a songwriting challenge and two-day fashion shoot with world-famous photographer Danny Clinch in Clarksdale, Mississippi. More information regarding the profile is available HERE.

Griffin House Announces New Headline Dates Plus Dates With The Cranberries

Griffin House has announced new headline dates that will take him from Greenville, SC on October 14 through Oxford, OH on October 29. The singer/songwriter will not only play songs from his latest release, Flying Upside Down, but also older songs that he rarely plays live. Additionally, he'll be debuting a few new tracks that will be included on his next album. In November, House will join The Cranberries on the road as they travel across N. America for three weeks (full list of dates below).

House has toured with the likes of Josh Ritter, Richard Thompson, Rhett Miller and John Mellencamp, and also spends time on the road with Ten Out Of Tenn, a group of 10 independent, Nashville-based musicians like Erin McCarly, Trent Dabbs and fellow Nettwerk artist Butterfly Boucher, whose goal is to expose their city’s vibrant pop rock scene to the entire country.

Griffin House Announces August Tour Dates

Singer/songwriter Griffin House gets back on the road this August with Needtobreath for a 3 week tour that starts in Madison, WI on August 21 and ends in Danbury, CT on September 4. House has taken little time off since releasing  his sophomore album Flying Upside Down early last year, from headlining dates to support slots with artists like Josh Ritter, Rhett Miller and John Mellencamp to touring as part of Nashville's Ten out of Tenn (a group of 10 independent Nashville-based musicians who came together to expose their city’s vibrant pop rock scene to the entire country).  House will also make a stop in Springfield, OH on June 26 to take part in the Summer Arts Festival.

Griffin House Back On The Road WIth Ten Out Of Tenn

After spending nearly the first two months of 2009 rocking across the US on his headline tour, up and coming singer/songwriter Griffin House is back on the road this month with his second family, Nashville’s Ten out of Tenn.

Ten out of Tenn, which Paste Magazine called “the Nashville underground’s brightest stars,” is a group of 10 independent, Nashville-based musicians who came together to expose their city’s vibrant pop rock scene to the entire country. Other artists include Butterfly Boucher, Tyler James, Erin McCarly and Trent Dabbs (who originally conceptualized the group).

When House wasn’t touring with Ten out of Tenn last year, he was headlining in support of his latest release, Flying Upside Down, and gaining the attention of audiences and critics alike, from the NY Times to USA Today. He made his late night TV debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, where he performed “The Guy That Says Goodbye,”  a track from the album that gained noticeable attention during his U.S. tour  and had audiences spontaneously and enthusiastically singing along (and many ladies swooning!).
