Ash Koley Premieres New Video "Mary The Inventor;" 'Inventions' and 'Acoustic Inventions' Out May 8

Canadian alt-pop duo Ash Koley--Ash Koley and Phil Deschambault--will release debut album Inventions in the U.S. and the rest of the world on May 8, 2012. The album, which was previously only available in Canada, was produced by Deschambault and mixed by Grammy Award-winning mixer Tom Lord-Age. In anticipation of the release, the band has unveiled a brand new music video for album track “Mary The Inventor,” which premiered today on the American Eagle "Made To Last Blog" (here).

“For us, creating music is like building little inventions. Every song we write comes from an idea we then craft, construct and design into something we both fall in love with,” said Koley of the album title.

Inventions features 13 songs--nine original album tracks and four bonus tracks, including a cover of The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” In addition to the studio album release on May 8, the pair will release an acoustic album called Acoustic Inventions, comprised of acoustic versions of stand-out tracks from the studio album, as well as various tracks from the pair’s years of writing together.

Alt-Pop Duo Ash Koley Releases 'Don't Let Your Feet Touch Ground' EP; Plus New Video

Today, Canadian alt-pop duo Ash Koley release the Don’t Let Your Feet Touch Ground EP (out now in iTunes). The EP features various mixes of the infectiously catchy single from Grammy-winning mixer Tom Lord-Alge and rising DJ/producer and Grammy-nominee Morgan Page (who recently had a #1 hit on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay chart with single “In The Air”), and additional track “Mary The Inventor.”

“Don’t Let Your Feet Touch Ground,” which was the lead single from the duo’s Canadian debut mini-album Inventions (Sony Music Entertainment Canada/Nettwerk Records), was nominated for a Canadian Radio Music Award in the AC and Hot AC Categories.

Singer Ash Koley and producer/songwriter Phil Deschambault began their musical collaboration in 2004, when the two self-proclaimed nerds from Winnipeg were introduced by a mutual acquaintance. Phil was looking for a singer who could relate to his sound, and Ash’s velvety voice did just that. Together, their sound is an amalgamation of diverse influences, from Abba to the Eurythmics, and from Peter Gabriel to Radiohead. The result is a band that is a full embodiment of what they each bring to the duo – quirky charm and upbeat classic pop music.

Don’t Let Your Feet Touch Ground EP track listing:
1. Don't Let Your Feet Touch Ground (Morgan Page Radio Edit)
2. Don't Let Your Feet Touch Ground (Tom Lord-Alge Mix)

"Effortlessly stylish and blessed with a pure and magnificent pop voice, [Ash Koley] is suddenly finding herself on the verge of stardom...Koley and songwriter-producer Phil Deschambault have been building up a catalogue of deliciously retro pop tunes: imagine ABBA jamming with Debbie Harry, and that's the vibe Koley's rocking."

Nettwerk Music Group is excited to add Canadian singer/songwriter Ash Koley to its management roster. Ash Koley, along with award-winning songwriter/producer and musical partner Phil Deschambault, have become known throughout Canada for their sophisticated brand of quirky pop music--an eccentric hybrid of Phil's no-rules approach to pop production and Ash's velvety voice and emotional delivery.

“Nettwerk stands by its mantra of releasing music that we love, and Ash Koley is no exception to this rule,” says Nettwerk CEO Terry McBride. “Her work with Phil is absolutely brilliant, and I am thrilled to have her join our management roster and look forward to the journey ahead.”

A debut full-length is due in 2010, but in the meantime Ash Koley prepares to release a series of digital EPs comprised of produced demos; The White EP (Nettwerk) will be released through iTunes and other digital service providers on November 10, with The Blue EP, The Red EP and The Black EP to follow in the coming months. Ash and Phil have also spent time on home-made music videos for most of their songs using what is referred to as “time-lapse photography” – the film frames are captured at a much slower rate, or in this case half-time and played back at normal speed to create the illusion of time moving faster. They also filmed live “Bathroom Sessions” from bathrooms and various locations. See for yourself HERE.
